I was quite shocked to see my mom arrive by the postman in a USPS box. I lost my dad last year and the funeral home did not burden me about payment until after his cremation, they gave me the death certificates so I could file for his insurance to pay for their services. I understand the need for consumers to pay for services up front but they point blank told me cremation of my mommy would not happen until the full payment was received. If I had to depend on her burial policy, I would have had to take a loan just to cremate her, what's the point of having it. Lastly, I’ve never heard of a funeral home refusing to use a personal urn. They said they would only use urns purchased through their website. Not only are the urns significantly overpriced but they don’t have an appealing selection. I live out of state so my complaints should not be considered for in person services because they may differ. The staff was sympathetic and warm but that was overshadowed by the financial component. I’ve included the photo of the boxes my mother arrived in and the beautiful urn I purchased for less than $150. I would not recommend them to anyone that has a preferred urn or someone out of state trying coordinate for their loved one, but again I would not deter someone from within the city to at least check them out for their selves.

The process for everything was pretty straightforward and the price wasn't too bad. I made a request that they not cremate him in his hospital gown, which I obviously can't say if they did or not but they at least took my request over the phone and I will have to hope they actually noted it. The coroner lied on his death certificate about how he died and they got the time of death wrong but that's probably not the business' fault. I paid $50 for fingerprints and was upset by the fact that they aren't actually his fingerprints, you get a card with pictures of their fingerprints and a paper so you can buy trinkets with them on a particular website, however when I was there to pick him up she told me it was a link to a digital copy of the fingerprints which it is not. For that reason I was not very happy as $50 for that feels like they are taking advantage of grieving people but I suppose this industry is full of that, and I have pictures of his partial fingerprints so I guess that's something, definitely not $50 worth of something. They only do pickups on Wednesdays which I guess they must have some kind of reasoning for, and it was fine because I had time off, but could be inconvenient for someone who doesn't and I was put off by having to leave him there all that extra time, though I guess he probably didn't mind. The building is kind of hard to find as I don't recall there being any signage. My biggest issue with them, though not entirely their fault, is that my husband died the day after Thanksgiving so I was spending Christmas without him for the first time not long after he passed. 8pm on Christmas night, while I'm watching one of his favorite movies it was a tradition for us to watch together, this time alone, and I get a text asking for a review on how they did. While I realize this was an automated message, they may want to look into if there's a way to shut that off for holidays, because that was brutal and I had half a mind to give a 1 star review for that alone. "Merry Christmas! Please let us know how we did burning your husband's corpse!" Yeah...it didn't hit right. Probably best to avoid sending out requests on holidays if you can manage it. I don't believe the people who came to pick him up are directly employed by this business, but the people they used were incredibly sensitive and professional. My husband is a big guy and we live in a walkout so there was some concern about getting him out without things getting awkward. Only two people showed up and one was so tiny I had to respectfully let them know I didn't want just the two of them taking him out and he completely understood and was very accomodating. They were all incredibly professional and almost like they weren't even there. Like I said I dont think they work for this company directly but it is a great decision to work with that particular service. Points off for the $50 pictures and the poorly timed automated text, but overall they were not bad to work with. Though I do hope to never need their services again and if you're reading this, I'm very sorry that you are in need of it. Overall I do not think you will regret using them, I know things like this you want to make sure you do right by your loved one and if you use this company, you will still be doing right by them.

They made a difficult time so much easier. They were kind and patient, and the process was smooth, all online and over the phone. They were incredibly compassionate when I picked up the urn. I’m grateful for them.

Everything went VERY smoothly concerning the service that A Basic Cremation offered. I would have given a 5 Star rating except when we went to get the remains I was a bit taken a back that we were in a warehouse area and the place was hard to identify, even though we had the address. We didn't know what door to go into and just wasn't what we were expecting - I thought it would have been more of a chapel looking place and it's not. It also had a strong smoke smell, but..... The people are so very kind both in the beginning when we were setting this all up and at the end when they brought the remains out. So sweet a group. Thank you

UPDATE - I had to return to A Basic Cremation to pick up a polymer container for traveling. When I was there I noticed there wasn't a smoky smell this time. And, again the people were way beyond super. Thank you so much for being there for us.

O was very satisfied with the process until it came to the delivery of he ashes. I don’t live in the Denver area so paid to have them sent to me in Phoenix. After waiting for over2 weeks, I called to see what was happening. They informed me they were waiting for me to pick them up! Not the right answer. They pulled my account and realized their error. Finally received the ashes on November 1st.

Christmas morning might not be the best time to send a request for a Google review on how good of a job you did for my mothers cremation. Just saying. Thanks for the reminder. Merry Christmas to you too!!!
