He did everything asked of him in a professional manner, working us into his schedule. He replaced light fixtures, repairs siding, the deck and painted the house.. inside and out. So I’m sure he’s going to have something to say and that’s fine. But I’m going to put my honest opinion out there. I worked with Scott for over 2 years. He did nothing but nice work for so long. To putting in a nice fence, to changing out my water heater, to helping with our guest house. I could always rely on him and his sons until about March of this year. He gave me a finishing cost total of around $2,500. Well him always doing right by us I went ahead and paid him the rest of the cost up front (my mistake). From that moment on it kind of seemed like he slacked off. There would be weeks at a time he wouldn’t come and do anything. He would come maybe once a week for 30 minutes or an hour. And when I asked why.. he would tell me he has stuff going on in his personal life..Or in the hotter months the house was too hot. (Which if you’re a contractor bring an ac unit or like you said to me “it didnt bother you, you like to sweat”.) Which I do understand some things to an extent, but it was always an excuse after excuse. But then it started effecting my life. He never went and bought the materials that I paid for. Kept telling me more and more stuff needed done that “popped” up, would never tell me how much more that “extra” stuff would be, but still somehow managed to get little to nothing of the finishing tasks done. Now I wouldn’t be as “pushy” but it was then august he had been on the finishing part for 5 months and continuously told me “2-3 more weeks”. I also was very open with him about the fact I’m having a baby in October and HAD to have it done asap. But every time I asked to get it done he would have a reasoning as to why he couldn’t. Now I’m sure he’s going to comment on here how he paid for things I never paid for. But that’s because he didn’t want to communicate with me, he would try to communicate with my mother in law that he had got close to at one point which is super unprofessional! He doesn’t need to be telling anyone about my guest house but me. I also continuously asked him for another itemized bill for the “extra” stuff he did so I can start paying towards that, but he wouldn’t. So I finally had enough. I asked him to finish our bathroom and then I’ll have someone else finish the rest. But he didn’t even do that. He decided to leave that day, and not help finish my bathroom and basically walk away with $1400 of materials I PAID for that he never went and got. When I pay for something I expect the money to be used on what you told me it would be used on, not extras. Extras are to be paid later (if that’s the agreement) or right then. Which like I said he would NEVER tell me a price. I give 3 stars cause when he wants to do good work he can, but also when he wants it his way or his time he will play with you.
