This campground is very nice. My family stays here in the summer every year and has camped in every loop. A loop has full hookups. It also has lots of grass and has large areas where a big group can camp in and party. B Loop has no hooks ups, but it has a park, a dog park, and the trail head to hike up the canyon. B loop is the most rowdy loop out if the three. C loop has full hookups and is the quietest loop.
All the loops have bathrooms and showers. The campground has a outdoor program area between B and C loop that is great to take your kids to. The program teaches you about the wildlife around cove palisades and the history of the lake. The tum-a-lau trail is a very nice trail that starts in B loop. The pictures below I took from the top of the canyon on the tum-a-lau trail.

The campground was very well kept and clean with close access to swimming and boat ramps. We had our 5 year old with us and she loved the nightly nature presentations and morning Jr. Ranger programs.

This might be the best place to stay if you are planning on spending time on/at Lake Billy Chinook. There are plenty of spaces (most of which are reservable online), decent restrooms, showers, a playground, and a camp store (snacks, water, ice, firewood, etc.). The sites are a little closer and exposed (to other campers) than I’d prefer, but if you’re at the lake most of the time it won’t matter.

This is one of the best state campgrounds we have stayed at. This was just a stopover for us to get to Crater Lake, but we wished we would have stayed one more night. We were shocked that there were full hookups, as you drop deep down into a canyon to get to this campground. The scenery in and around the campground was so pretty! There are quite a few hike options. We stayed in the “C” loop in the pull through site, site C-12. While we would definitely come back, we would choose a different site. It was hard to get level (especially since we were just staying for a night and didn’t want to unhitch) because we couldn’t pull up any further in our 28 ft travel trailer due to a rock that our slide would not clear. Not a huge deal, but we would choose a different spot because there are so many good one! I believe the “B” loop is the one where there are no hookups. There are multiple “camp hosts” per loop, and they were all super attentive to this park. We did a few small hikes, and wished we could have done more. There was a movie watching area, a basketball hoop area, two playgrounds (one for bigger kids and one for smaller), a volleyball court area and I believe there is swimming in the river, lake in the park. Would highly recommend! We have Verizon and we had no service at all. But it gives you a chance to disconnect and be with nature ?.

For services very nice. Great place to camp. Bring your boat. We had space C14 which had a steep entry and exit for a pull through. Even though it was listed as 45 feet, our 31 foot class A barely had flat enough pad, even with auto levels. No way a trailer and boat or car would have been able to not scrape.

Fantastic place very clean. Quite large camp grounds, holds programs for the people camping to learn about the environment around them seeing as eastern oregon is 100%different then the coastal part. It's so beautiful 100%would recommend

We stayed here for 7 nights in mid-September just before the close of camping season. The Deschutes Campground is well into the Cove, and Verizon (as of 2018) did not have cell service in the canyon. Pretty wide open campsites that are decently spread. You are not being packed in like sardines.

Highly recommended if you love hiking, photography, or getting out onto the lake.
